Confidentiality

 

Honoring privacy is very important in order for students to trust me. I tell students, "what you say here stays here." This means that what we talk about is confidential. I will not share our conversation with teachers, parents or other students unless they give me permission to do so.

 

There are 3 situations where I may be required to get outside help:

1. If a student tells me they plan to hurt themself

2. If a student tells me they plan to hurt another person

3. If a student tells me that someone is being abused

 

In these cases, I am required by law to get outside help. I will tell as few people as possible in order to protect everyone involved.
